San Diego Week of Action!
The list of events for the San Diego Week of Action!, and what each event intends to achieve is as follows:
1. Smart Money Summit 2009 at San Diego Concourse, 202 C Street, San Diego, CA 92101 on Saturday, June 6, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.:
Smart Money Summit helps people become more financially literate, for homebuyers to learn the home buying process, and for homeowners on how to preserve their homeownership. The free event is presented by the San Diego City-County Reinvestment Task Force and its co-chairs, Councilman Tony Young and county Supervisor Ron Roberts.Speakers will give tips in first-time home buyer programs, how to build credit, personal financial planning, identity theft prevention, small business development, short sales, REO properties, bankruptcy, foreclosure options and other topics. The event will provide opportunity for homeowners to receive one-on-one counseling from HUD approved housing counseling agencies. 2. HOME Workshop at St. Jude Church, 1129 South 38th Street, San Diego, CA on Sunday, June 7, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m:
Provide an interactive workshop to educate families and individuals on how to manage their finances during these tough times.
3. HOME Workshop at Tubman Chavez Multicultural Center, 415 Euclid Avenue, San Diego, CA 92114 near Euclid Trolley Station on Monday, June 8, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.:
Provide an interactive workshop to educate families and individuals on how to attain and preserve homeownership.
4. HOME Workshop at St. Rose of Lima Church, 293 H Street, Chula Vista, CA on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.:
Provide an interactive workshop to educate families and individuals on how to manage their finances during these tough times.
5. Press Conference in front of the Federal Court Building, Front & Broadway, Downtown San Diego, CA 92101 from 12 Noon to 12:30 p.m.:
Deliver letter from community organizations to President Barrack Obama, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senators from California and Members of Congress from San Diego, asking them to act now for jobs and homes.
